I am learning to love my life here in Okinawa. There are so many things here to love, namely my husband, and this experience we are having is priceless. I should be able to look for a job soon, because the command sponsorship paperwork has finally come in.
There are some things that I miss like being able to drive on the right side of the road on the left side of the car; being able to understand what people are saying, save for ebonics LOL, having more than one store as an option to shop at, finding one than one brand of some items.
Today, I made gumbo for dinner and I was trying to find file powder because it gives the gumbo a particular taste. Anyway I improvised and it tasted pretty good. Normally, I would be taking a lot of what I made for dinner to work the next day, but I don't have a job yet, let alone any friends. So my husband and daughters are the recipients of all of my attentions and food.
This weekend was pretty good though. I drove for the first time by myself on base. I dropped the girls off so that they could hang out with their friends and go to the movies. Janiece is finally settled on the idea of living here now. I'm so glad.
Off to watch 'True Blood'....
